Walking into Village Underground after getting through the queue, finding I wasn’t on the list and being persuasive lead to a massive night ahead. Walls of concrete about the place seemingly filled with cave dwellers ready to vibe out at any moment.. I’d say it’s a great start.
I came up from Brixton; a pounding set from DJ Nonames genre hopping through Hip-Hop, Dubstep, Breaks opened up as you went into the place. The guy at the merchandise desk started moshing out now and then when he could adjacent to the full crowd that you see below.
I Am Legion (Noisa & Foreign Beggars) came on afterwards with the line array hard hitting the crowd below, the bass bins shaking the place up alongside crowd dance moves throwing themselves about to the sheer excitement.
Shell Shock, No Holds Barred, Choosing For You and loads of old and new album tracks were played relentlessly during the performance both Noisia and the Foreign Beggars working hard for their best performance.
Lyricism and rhymes over warped basslines & beats, mangled percussive rhythms were delivered with ease between Orifice Vulgatron and Metropolis; both showcasing alternative musical identities in which Hip-Hop could manifest.
Nerm, Nonames and Noisia played at the afterparty inside The Horse and Groom, a disco pub across the road.
Nerm started playing alternative music with an edge moving towards house in middle of his set, Nonames played Hip-Hop/ alternative beats/ Dubstep with Noisia ensuing a takeover playing the hard edged beats, breaks and bass they’re known for. Vibes were heavy! ;)
